Systems & Network Administrator
The Role
The Systems and Network Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of both ICT Systems Infrastructure and ICT Network Infrastructure at an operational level. They will ensure that all systems and networks operate securely, reliably, and efficiently to support the organisation's goals. Additionally, they will collaborate with other IT teams to implement best practices, resolve technical issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of ICT operations. This role also includes guiding the Junior Systems Administrator, ensuring they perform effectively and adhere to the bank's standards while fostering their professional development.
Key Responsibilities
As a Systems and Network Administrator, your daily activities will include:
- Manage and monitor all installed ICT infrastructure including security systems.
- Deliver day-to-day ICT and desktop support via telephone, email, remotely or on-site.
- Responsible for various ICT infrastructure setup, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ensure that the overall ICT and security infrastructure is working efficiently and according to strict quality and Bank’s security standards.
- Participate in the design and implementation of secure ICT infrastructure architectures and configurations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a business continuity and disaster recovery plan, including backup and recovery procedures for critical ICT infrastructure and data.
- Manage ICT infrastructure and applications backups.
- Collaborate with the ICT infrastructure team to develop and enforce security policies and procedures.
- Monitor the ICT ticketing system for any requests and actioning promptly.
- Prioritise and efficiently manage multiple open tickets.
- Mitigate ICT risks and aid in setting up mechanisms to minimise/neutralise threats to the ICT infrastructure.
- Assist in rollouts of new environments and applications.
- Assist with security-related tasks.
- Assist in compliance efforts with relevant regulations and standards.
- Keep up to date with the latest ICT technologies and propose ideas for improvements.
- Vendor management and relations.
- Keep ICT asset registry up to date.
- Create and maintain good quality documentation.
- Guide, train and mentor other staff members.
- Any other tasks as may from time to time be required by the Bank.
Education & Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree/ Diploma in ICT, and/or
- ICT certifications:
- Comptia N+ / S+
- CCNA
- MCSA
- Microsoft Azure Administrator
- EC-Council certifications
- Vendor specific certifications
Skills & Experience Required
- A minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar role
- Advanced level of experience with Networking technologies
- Have practical knowledge of:
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Microsoft Server environment
- Microsoft desktop environment
- Microsoft Office 365 environments and Administration
- Advanced Endpoint Protection (EDR/XDR) Management technologies
- The entire TCP\IP and OSI network protocol stack
- Other non-Windows environments such as Linux
- Knowledgeable on:
- Storage technologies
- Backup and replication technologies
- Scripting languages, with a focus on Windows PowerShell and Linux Bash
- Cloud technologies
- Hypervisor technologies
- Monitoring solutions will be considered an asset
- Good troubleshooting, capable of analysing a problem and finding a long-term working solution
- Excellent time management, task planning and prioritising
- Very good written and verbal communication
