Senior Accountant

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to manage daily bookkeeping activities, support weekly payment runs, and handle month‑end closures in our bank. You will work closely with the Finance Manager, supervise two Finance Officers, and coordinate effectively with other departments such as Operations, Credit, and others. You will also carry out ad‑hoc tasks assigned by the Head of Department as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out and review of daily bookkeeping entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage and review weekly payment runs and related reconciliations.
  • Support and complete month‑end and period‑end closing activities.
  • Prepare and review financial reports for management and internal stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly, bi-yearly and yearly basis.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in line with internal controls and banking regulations on a daily basis.
  • Work closely and communicate effectively with Operations, Credit, and other departments to resolve issues and share information.
  • Supervise and guide two Finance Officers, checking their work and providing feedback.
  • Assist with audits, tax filings, and other statutory or regulatory requirements.
  • Take on ad‑hoc tasks and projects assigned by the Head of Department in a timely and professional manner.
  • Create, maintain, and regularly update the Finance Department’s operating manual, policies, and procedures to ensure they remain clear and up to date.
  • Suggest simple improvements to processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors.

Skills and Capabilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
  • Good knowledge of accounting software and strong skills in MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a team.
  • Good command of English and communication skills .
