Junior Finance Officer
The Role
Working within our Finance & Treasury Department, this role is focused on supporting the Finance Manager. We believe in doing our work the right way, working together within a collaborative culture to achieve this. This role works closely with all departments within the organisation, providing an excellent learning opportunity for anyone wishing to further their career in the banking sector.
Key Responsibilities
As a Junior Finance Officer, your daily activities will include:
- Process supplier invoices and assist in the preparation of payment runs in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Finance team as required.
- Assist in gathering information and documentation required for internal and external audits.
- Assist the Finance team with month-end activities and support the preparation of routine internal reports.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure supporting documentation is filed appropriately.
- Perform bank, system and general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies identified.
- Support the preparation of VAT, tax and regulatory returns under the guidance of senior team members.
- Update and maintain financial procedures, records and departmental documentation as required.
Skills and Experience Required
- Be in possession of an A-level in Accounting and/or currently pursuing ACCA or an equivalent qualification
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ related work experience, preferably within the banking or financial sector.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics would be considered an asset.
- Be proactive in your approach and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Have an advanced working knowledge of Excel and a sound IT aptitude.
- Have excellent analytical, problem solving and report writing skills.
- Be fluent in Maltese and English.
