Network & Systems Administrator
The Role
The Network and Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of ICT infrastructure at an operational level, with responsibilities spanning systems and networking technologies.
The role ensures that all ICT infrastructure operates securely, reliably, and efficiently in support of the Bank’s business objectives and regulatory obligations. The post-holder will work closely with other ICT team members to implement best practices, resolve technical issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of ICT operations.
This role also includes guiding the junior team members, ensuring adherence to the bank's standards, while supporting their ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities
As a Networks and Systems Administrator, your daily activities will include:
- Manage and monitor all installed ICT infrastructure.
- Deliver day-to-day ICT and desktop support via telephone, email, remotely or on-site.
- Provision, configure, maintain and troubleshoot ICT infrastructure and related services.
- Ensure that ICT and security infrastructure operates efficiently and in accordance with the Bank’s quality and security standards.
- Participate in the design, implementation, and improvement of secure ICT infrastructure architectures and configurations.
- Assist in the development, implementation, testing and maintenance of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, including backup and recovery procedures.
- Manage and monitor ICT infrastructure and application backups.
- Collaborate with the ICT infrastructure team to develop, implement, and enforce security policies and procedures.
- Monitor the ICT ticketing system, responding to and actioning requests promptly and effectively.
- Prioritise and efficiently manage multiple open tickets.
- Identify and mitigate ICT risks and assist in implementing mechanisms to minimise and neutralise threats.
- Assist in the rollout, upgrade, and support of new environments, platforms and applications.
- Support networking-related tasks and troubleshooting activities.
- Assist with security-related tasks, including monitoring, access control, and endpoint protection.
- Support compliance initiatives in line with applicable regulations, standards, internal policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date ICT documentation, including procedures and configurations.
- Keep the ICT asset registry accurate and current.
- Manage relationships with ICT vendors and service providers.
- Keep up to date with emerging ICT technologies and propose improvements where appropriate.
- Guide, train, and mentor junior team members.
- Perform any other duties as may from time to time be required by the Bank.
Education & Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in ICT, and/or
- Relevant ICT certifications, including (but not limited to):
- CompTIA Network+ / Security+
- Azure Administrator
- M365 Administrator
- CCNA
- EC-Council certifications
- Vendor-specific certifications (cloud certifications considered an asset)
Skills & Experience Required
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar role
Technical Skills
- Strong practical knowledge of systems administration, including:
- Virtualisation and hypervisor technologies
- Backup and replication solutions
- Microsoft Server environments
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Microsoft Office 365 environments and Administration
- Microsoft desktop operating systems
- Advanced Endpoint Protection (EDR/XDR) Management technologies
- Good working knowledge of networking technologies and concepts, including:
- TCP\IP and OSI model
- Network troubleshooting and security fundamentals
- Experience or knowledge of:
- Storage technologies
- Cloud platforms and services
- Monitoring and alerting solutions
- Scripting and automation (PowerShell and/or Linux Bash considered an asset)
- Other non-Windows environments such as Linux
