Junior Systems Administrator
The Role
The Junior Systems Administrator serves as the first point of contact for ICT support, providing timely and professional assistance to users while helping ensure the reliable operation of end-user devices, systems, and services. The role is responsible for the provisioning, configuration, maintenance, and support of hardware, software, user accounts, and assigned ICT systems and services.
The successful candidate is expected to take ownership of assigned tasks, proactively investigate and resolve issues, maintain accurate documentation and asset records, and contribute to the continuous improvement of ICT services and processes. While primarily focused on first-line support, the role offers opportunities to gain hands-on experience across systems administration, infrastructure, security, networking, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor ICT and security infrastructure and escalate issues to help maintain service availability and uptime requirements.
- Deliver day-to-day IT support via ticketing system, calls, email, remotely or on-site.
- Assist in the administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of ICT infrastructure and services.
- Ensure that the overall ICT and security infrastructure is working efficiently and according to strict quality and Bank’s security standards.
- Assist in rollouts of new environments and applications.
- Assist in incident response and recovery efforts.
- Proactively review, prioritise and manage tickets, tasks, and infrastructure alerts to ensure timely resolution and escalation where required.
- Take ownership of assigned issues from initial investigation through to resolution or escalation.
- Maintain accurate ICT asset and inventory records, ensure equipment stock levels are monitored, and keep storage areas, equipment cabinets, and archives organised and regularly audited.
- Onboard new users and ensure starter equipment is provisioned, configured, tested, documented, and ready prior to the employee's start date.
- Provide induction training, guidance, and ongoing support to users as required.
- Administer and support the Bank's cloud productivity and collaboration platforms.
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of ICT security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Assist in compliance efforts with relevant regulations and standards.
- Continuously develop technical knowledge through assigned training, self-learning, and practical experience.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve user experience, IT processes, documentation, and operational efficiency.
- Create, maintain, and review technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles.
- Any other tasks as may from time to time be required by the Bank.
This position will primarily be on-site with limited hybrid working. The selected candidate will be required to work from the office from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute break.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology; OR
- Relevant industry certifications and/or demonstrable practical experience in ICT support, systems administration, or infrastructure technologies:
- CompTIA A+, N+, Security+ or equivalent.
- CCNA or equivalent.
- Microsoft 365: Administrator, Endpoint Administrator or equivalent.
- ITIL Foundation.
- Vendor certifications relevant to the role.
Skills & Experience
- Good troubleshooting abilities, capable of analysing problems and identifying sustainable solutions
- Knowledge of laptop provisioning, endpoint deployment, and user onboarding processes
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and end-user support.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Server technologies including Active Directory, Group Policy, DFS, DHCP, DNS, and related services.
- Knowledge of endpoint management and deployment technologies.
- Knowledge of monitoring and alerting solutions.
- Knowledge of Advanced Endpoint Protection (EDR/XDR) technologies.
- Knowledge of Windows PowerShell and basic scripting concepts.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, the OSI model, and networking fundamentals.
- Knowledge of network troubleshooting and common ICT infrastructure components.
- Knowledge of VoIP and unified communications technologies.
- Knowledge of asset management, hardware lifecycle management, and inventory control.
- Understanding of ICT security principles and best practices.
- Previous experience working in an ICT support, service desk, desktop support, or similar role would be considered an asset
